Ohio PTA Academic (4-year college)2018-02-22

The Ohio PTA is awarding three different $500 scholarships to Ohio Seniors. One is for a student planning to attend a four-year college, one is for a student planning to attend a two-year college or technical school and one is for a special education student planning to further his/her education. There are separate applications for each. See scholarship folders for the criteria for the other scholarships.

5. A paper application can be found in the Scholarship Drawer located in A114 or applications can be found online at www.ohiopta.org, click on "Programs". Then click on "2018 Academic Scholarship Application". The application can be filled out on online. Then print the completed application, attach your letter of recommendation and transcript.

6. Turn in the application to the Guidance Office, room A114 by Feb. 22. Applications must be received by the Ohio PTA by March 1.

Ohio PTA Special Ed 2018-02-22

The Ohio PTA will award a $500 scholarship to a special education student to continue his/her education. The award will be based on the individual's abilities, life skills and realistic goals. A recommendation letter is required. Must have a current IEP/504.



Applications can be found in the Scholarship Drawer in A114 or online at: www.ohiopta.org. Click on "Programs", then "2018 Special Needs Scholarship Application". The application can be filled out online. Then print the completed application and attach a letter of recommendation and a transcript.



Turn in the completed application to the Guidance Office, room A114, by Feb. 22. Applications must be received by the Ohio PTA by March 1.

Ohio PTA Technical School/2-year College2018-02-22

The Ohio PTA will award a $500 scholarship to a senior planning to obtain an associate degree or technical degree.



CRITERIA:



1. Scholastic achievement

2. School involvement

3. Leadership

4. Counselor recommendation

5. Special family circumstances

6. Plan to enroll in an associate degree program or a technical program

7. Applications can be found in the Scholarship Drawer located in A114 or applications can be found online at www.ohiopta.org, Click on "2018 Technical Scholarship Application". The application can be filled out online. Then print the completed application, attach your letter of recommendation and transcript.

8. Turn in the application to the Guidance Office, room A114, by Feb. 22. The application must be received by the Ohio PTA by March 1.

Ron Stapleton Memorial Scholarship2018-02-23

This scholarship is in memory of Ronald Stapleton. He graduated from MHS in 1969 and University of Cincinnati in 1972. His 1600 meter time stood as a record at MHS until 2016.. He was an All-American cross-country runner at UC. Ron was an outstanding individual, devoted family man and successful businessman. One $950 scholarship will be awarded in his memory to a student who has at least 2 years of varsity cross-country and/or track participation). Applicant will be evaluated on additional criteria as described below.



Criteria:

1. Applicant must have participated in at least 2 years varsity cross-country and/or track at Mentor High School

2. Scholarship is to be used for educational training beyond high school at any college, university, trade or technical school.

3. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: financial need, grades, extracurricular activities, teacher recommendations (2) and autobiography

4. Return completed application to Guidance, room A114, by 2/23/18





MHS DEADLINE: 2/23/18

Ohio Oil and Gas Foundation2018-02-23

They will award a $1,000 renewable scholarship (up to 4 years) for graduating seniors in Ohio who plan to attend an accredited college/university in Ohio and have a career goal in the crude oil and natural gas industry or related energy field.



Criteria:

1. Must be a U.S. citizen

2. Must be an Ohio resident and planning to attend an accredited Ohio college.

3. Must be planning to pursue a career in the crude oil and natural gas industry or related energy field

4. Must maintain a 2.50 or better gpa to be eligible for renewal

5. Submitting transcripts with applications is encouraged but not required

6. 1 Recommendation letter from teacher, employer or mentor figure

7. 250-500 word essay describing personal and career goals, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, awards/recognitions, community service, work history, financial needs and personal/family influences.

Cleveland Hockey Boosters Club2018-02-26

The Cleveland Hockey Booster Club will award 5 scholarships (as college/university bookstore credit) in the amounts of $2000, $1700, $1400, $1100, $800 to high school seniors currently playing in the NCHSHL (North coast High School Hockey League) or GCHSHL (Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League). Mentor is a member of the GCHSHL.



Criteria:

1. Must be graduating in 2018 and planning to attend college 2018-2019.

2. Minimum 3.0 gpa.

3. Letter from coach or assistant coach which includes how player displayed good sportsmanship and/or leadership

4. Must have earned two or more Varsity Hockey Letters or participated in Club Hockey for two or more years.

5. Must submit an essay entitled, "What High School Hockey has Meant to Me"

6. Essays may be mailed or emailed in time for their deadline of 3/1/18



MHS DEADLINE: 2/26/18

Dr. Theodore Webster Scholarship2018-02-28

This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Theodore Webster who was a 1987 graduate of Mentor High School. They will award a $500 scholarship to a Mentor High School senior who plans to attend The Ohio State University (main campus or a branch).



Criteria:

1. Must be a Mentor High School senior graduating in May 2018 and planning to attend The Ohio State University (main campus or a branch).

2. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need, character, responsibility and GPA.

3. Attach a transcript.

4. Applications can be found in the Scholarship Drawer located in the Guidance Office, room A114.

5. Return completed applications to the Guidance Office.



DEADLINE: 2/28/18

MHS Class of 1976 Scholarship2018-03-01

The MHS Class of 1976 will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Mentor High School to be used for educational purposes beyond high school at any accredited college, university or trade school.



Criteria:

1. Must be a current MHS senior planning to pursue their education beyond high school.

2. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

3. Two recommendation letters (one from a MHS faculty and one from a non-family member)

4. Five paragraph essay - see application for details

5. List of activities

6. Unless excused in writing by the scholarship committee chairman, the recipient of the scholarship must attend the MHS Senior Awards Ceremony to be held on May 15, 2018 at the Croatian Lodge in Eastlake.





DEADLINE: 3/1/18

College Club of Cleveland2018-03-01

The College Club of Cleveland is offering scholarships to graduating seniors in the greater Cleveland area. They will award 3-4 scholarships in amounts ranging from $500-$2,000. These are renewable for a total of 4 consecutive years if you maintain a 3.0 gpa or higher.



Criteria:

1. Must be a senior graduating in 2018.

2. To apply, go to their website, fill out the application and email it directly to them.

3. Two letters of recommendation, transcript and attendance records must be emailed to them as well.

Dollar Bank Contest2018-03-06

Dollar Bank is sponsoring a contest in which they will award a prize of $10,000. Students must attend a 1/2 day financial literacy seminar and then submit a 1500 word essay about planning and paying for college. The seminar will occur on Saturday, March 10 from 9:00am-1:00pm at the Dollar Bank located at the Galleria at Erieview, 1301 E. 9th St. Cleveland.

Lake County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship2018-03-07

The Lake County Retired Teachers' Association will award a scholarship to a graduating senior who intends to major in education. The amount of the scholarship varies from year to year; however, it will be sufficient to purchase all or some textbooks. In the past MHS could only submit one application for this scholarship. This year, however, applications for all students who apply will be submitted and considered by the committee.



Criteria:



1. Must be a graduating senior planning to enroll in a 4-year college/university with the intent of majoring in education.

2. Academic achievement, community involvement and extracurricular activities are considerations.

3. Two letters of recommendation from persons other than family members who have known you for at least 2 years.

4. Essay is required (see application)

5. Transcript must be submitted.

6. If you are chosen as a finalist you must be available for an interview to be held on May 2 or 3. The candidate will be contacted by the organization with details on time/place for the interview.



MHS DEADLINE: 3/7/18

Mentor Schools Foundation2018-03-08

The Mentor Schools Foundation will award a minimum of 2-$750 scholarships to graduating seniors from Mentor High School.



Criteria:



1. To be used for educational training beyond high school at any college, university, trade or technical school.

2. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: financial need, grades, extracurricular activities, teacher recommendations (2) and autobiography

3. Return completed application to Guidance, room A114, by 3/8/18





MHS DEADLINE: 3/8/18

Kathleen Durchik Nursing Scholarship2018-03-09

The family and friends of Kathleen Durchik have established this scholarship in the amount of $1,500 in her memory. Kathleen graduated from Mentor High School in 1973. She went on to graduate from Lakeland Community College and Cleveland State University. During her nursing career she worked at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, University Hospital and the Lake and Geauga County Health Departments. Mrs. Durchik passed away in 2016.



Criteria:

1. Applicant must be graduating from Mentor High School in 2018.

2. Applicant must be planning on pursuing a career in nursing.

3. Scholarship is based on attendance, academics, community service.

4. Must submit one recommendation letter from a teacher, coach, school counselor or any school employee.

5. Must submit a 250-word (or less) essay on the topic, "Why do you want to enter the field of nursing".

6. Applicant does not have to be currently enrolled in a career tech nursing program at Lakeland.

Ross & Carmella DeJohn Memorial2018-03-09

The Ross and Carmella DeJohn Scholarship is offering $500 scholarship(s) to graduating senior(s) from Lake County.



1. Academics, minimum 2.5 gpa

2. Demonstrated integrity, fairness, excellence, independence and professionalism

3. Letter of reference from counselor

4. Essay (no more than 500 words)

5. Three finalists will have an interview with scholarship committee

Vincent L. Petro 2018-03-09

The Vincent L. Petro Memorial Scholarship will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Mentor High School who resides in Lake County.



Criteria:



1. Minimum 2.5 gpa

2. Planning to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university or an accredited vocational/technical school.

3. Must include copy of SAR from the FAFSA including the pages listing the Expected Family Contribution.

4. Two letters of recommendation. One from a teacher and one from a community member who is not a relative.

5. Transcript

Mentor Teachers Association - General Scholarship2018-03-09

The Mentor Teachers Association will award up to $1,000 to a Mentor High senior(s) planning to attend college. The award may be divided among candidates at the discretion of the committee.



CRITERIA:



1. At least a 3.0 gpa

2. Must have completed at least two years at Mentor High

3. Recommendations from two high school teachers from different subject areas.

4. Applications are available in the Guidance Office, room A114.



Mentor Teachers Association - Education Scholarship2018-03-09

The Mentor Teachers Association will award up to $1,000 to a graduating senior(s) who plans to major in education or the award may be divided among candidates at the discretion of the committee.

CRITERIA:



1. Plan to major in education

2. At least a 3.0 gpa

3. Must have completed at least two years at Mentor High

4. Recommendations from two high school teachers from different subject areas. Recommendation should speak to likelihood of success in the teaching profession.

Mentor Teachers Association - Career Tech Scholarship2018-03-09

The Mentor Teachers Association will award up to $1,000 to a Mentor High senior(s) planning to attend a Technical/Vocational school or 2-year college. The award may be divided among recipients at the discretion of the committee.



CRITERIA:



1. At least a 3.0 gpa

2. Must have completed at least two years at Mentor High

3. Must be planning to enroll in a Technical/Vocational school or a 2-year college.

4. Recommendations from two high school teachers from different subject areas.

5. Applications are available in Guidance Office, room A114.

Hieronymus Music Scholarship2018-03-14

The Hieronymus Music Foundation will award one or more scholarships to graduating seniors from Mentor High School.



Criteria:

1. Plan to pursue a degree in music education or music performance at any college or university

2. Letter of acceptance from a four-year accredited college

3. Excellent academic standing

4. Essay why you wish to pursue a career in music

5. Please note, if you will be attending Heidelberg University majoring in music, there is a separate scholarship application.

MENTOR HIGH DEADLINE: March 14, 2018

Rice Elementary School PTA2018-03-15

Rice Elementary School PTA will award two scholarships valued at $500 each to seniors.





CRITERIA:



1. To be used for educational training beyond high school at any college or technical school

2. Must have attended Rice, to include those who attended during the 2014-2015 school year (the year Rice closed).

Bellflower Elementary (Sara Dzanko)2018-03-16

Rice Elementary School PTA will award two scholarships valued at $500 each to seniors.

Junior Women's Club of Mentor2018-03-16

The Junior Women's Club of Mentor will award $1,000 in scholarship(s) to senior students residing in the Lake County. Number of scholarships and amounts to be awarded will be based on number and quality of applications. Applicants do not have to be female.



Criteria:

1. Community service and leadership

2. One recommendation letter

3. Typed essay of less than 500 words with the topic, "What do you view as the area of greatest need for volunteer work in your community?"

Rita Matteo Memorial2018-03-16

Seniors who have attended Mentor High School or Lake Catholic High School for a minimum of 2 years are eligible to apply for this scholarship established in memory of Rita Matteo. Rita Matteo was an officer and actively involved with the Parent Teacher Association at Brentmoor Elementary School. The Rita Matteo Memorial Scholarship Board has allocated funds to award up to $12,000 in scholarships.



Criteria:

1. Must have attended MHS or Lake Catholic at least 2 years

2. Must include transcript with ACT and/or SAT scores

3. Neatness is highly regarded.

4. Two letters of recommendation are required. One from a MHS staff member and the second from a community member with which the student is affiliated (not an employer or MHS staff member).

5. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of community service, character, responsibility and academic achievement with special emphasis on community service.

6. Applicants MUST fill out the application online at: www.ritamatteo.org and then print it out.

MENTOR HIGH DEADLINE: 3/16/18

Slater & Zurz LLP Scholarship2018-03-18

The law form of Slater & Zurz in Akron, Ohio, will award a $1,000 scholarship to an Ohio high school senior graduating in 2018 and who will be attending a college/university in Ohio. Scholarship is not tied directly to student's GPA, ACT scores or class rank. It will be awarded on the basis of the preparation of a brief YouTube video along with an accompanying written essay.



Criteria:

1. Must be an Ohio high school senior graduating in 2018

2. Must be planning to attend a college/university in Ohio

3. Student must create a 2-4 minute YouTube video. There are two options for the topic of the video. (see website for specifics)

4. Student must submit a 500-1000 word essay about the topic discussed in the video.

Hudec Dental Relax, Smile Serve2018-03-21

Hudec Dental will award a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a graduating senior to be used for college tuition or related expenses.



Criteria:

1. Minimum 3.0 GPA

2. Planning to enroll in college in the fall of 2018

3. Must submit a 500 word essay detailing "how you changed the quality of life in your community with your service."

Erie Affiliates - Construction Mgmt/Civil Engineering2018-03-23

They will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from a LEAF contracted school. (MHS is a LEAF contracted school). Applicant must be intending to pursue a career in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.



Criteria:

1. Must be intended to pursue a career in Construction Management or Civil Engineering at an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university

2. Minimum gpa of 2.5

Lebanese Syrian American Junior League2018-03-23

The Lebanese-Syria Junior Women's League will award three-$1,000 scholarships to girls or boys of Lebanese or Syrian descent residing in the greater Cleveland area.



CRITERIA:



1. Academically outstanding (At least a "B" average)

2. Must be of Lebanese or Syrian descent, female or male

3. Autobiography: 200 words

4. Recommendations: Two

5. Applications are available in Room A-114.

Richard Small Foundation2018-03-23

This scholarship was established by Cleveland Construction Company in memory of their former Chairman and CEO and MHS 1955 graduate. This scholarship is to be awarded to students as passionate about Mentor as Richard was. They will award 4-$2,000 scholarships to MHS graduating seniors planning to pursue careers in Engineering Technologies and Construction programs at any college, trade, or vocational school to cover tuition, fees and books.



Criteria:

1. Applicant must be a MHS senior planning to pursue a career in Engineer Technologies or Construction at any college, trade or vocational school to cover tuition, fees and books.

2. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of leadership, character and service.

3. Two recommendation letters are required from MHS faculty, work advisors, community leaders, or any other person you've been involved with (not a relative) who can attest why you deserve the scholarship.

4. 250-word essay (see application for topic)

5. Return completed applications to the MHS Guidance Office (A114) by 3/23/18.



Mentor High School PTSA2018-03-23

The Mentor High School PTSA will award four $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors who are members of the MHS PTSA or whose parent is a member.



CRITERIA:

1. Must use for any educational training beyond high school (4-year college, 2-year college, trade or technical school)

2. Applicant and/or applicant's parent must be a member of the MHS PTSA.

2. Service/work experience

3. Activities

4. One-page essay about an experience, situation or individual during high school that helped to shape you and your choices as an individual.

MHS Deadline: 3/23/18

Lake Health-Health Careers Scholarship2018-03-23

Lake Health will award 3-$1,000 scholarships to MHS graduates who are planning a career in the medical profession. This may be as a physician, nurse, technician, aide, clerical, or other medically related field.





Criteria:

1. Must be a MHS senior graduating in 2018

2. Must be planning a career in the medical profession.

3. Essay topic: "What are your career goals and why did you choose this health science field?"

4. Applications are available in the Guidance Office, room A114.





DEADLINE: 3/23/18

BP Science (females only)2018-03-23

The Fluorine Chapter of Iota Sigma Pi will award the BP Scholarship(s) of $2,000 to young women with a profound interest in chemistry who will be attending an Ohio college or university.



Criteria:

1. Must be female and a high school senior

2. Must have applied to an accredited four-year college/university in Ohio with the intent of pursuing a scientific career after graduation. (Pre-med, pre-pharmacy/pharmacy are excluded)

3. Must have completed, or be in the process of completing, a minimum of 3 academic years of physical science courses and 3 academic years of math.

4. Must have at least a 3.4 gpa

5. Must exhibit strong scientific achievement and continued interest in both chemistry and mathematics.

Memorial Middle School PTA2018-03-26

Memorial Middle School PTA will award 3-$500 scholarships. There will be 2 scholarships given to a MHS senior who intend to pursue a 4-year degree at a college/university and 1 scholarship to a MHS senior who will be pursuing their education at any 2-year college, technical or vocational school.



CRITERIA



1. Attended Memorial for a minimum of two years and is currently a senior at MHS

2. Planning to attend a 4-year college/university or a 2-year college/tech/vocational school

3. Character

4. Leadership

5. Service

6. Financial need

7. Recommendation from Mentor High faculty or staff member

8. Recommendation from a community member

Lake County Agricultural Society2018-03-26

The Lake County Fair Board will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior.



CRITERIA:



1. Lake County resident

2. Must be a member of a Lake County 4-H organization or be a member of the Lake County Junior Fair Board

3. Proof of acceptance into a college or technical school

4. Minimum 2.5 gpa

5. Essay summarizing school/community activities and worthiness

6. Recommendations: Two One from a high school teacher/counselor and one from a community member.

7. Applications are available in Room A114

8. Applications must be postmarked by April 1.



MENTOR HIGH DEADLINE: 3/26/18

Ruth Hanes Scholarship (L.C.E. Federal Credit Union)2018-03-26

The LCE (Lake County Employees) Federal Credit Union will award one $1,000 and one $500 scholarship in honor of retired manager, Ruth Hanes. (Check the LCE website, www.lcefcu.org, to see the list of companies and organizations that are within their field of membership.) Applicant MUST be a member of L.C.E. (Lake County Federal Credit Union) or a relative of a member of the credit union. All other applicants will be disqualified.



CRITERIA:

1. Senior graduating from Harvey, Riverside, Mentor, Lake Catholic, Fairport, Kirtland, Madison, Perry, Wickliffe or Willoughby-Eastlake high school

2. Applicant must be a member or a relative of a member of L.C.E. Federal Credit Union (child, grandchild, niece, nephew, sibling)

3. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA

4. Must attend college in Ohio and submit a letter of acceptance from the school

5. Must submit a 500-word essay on the subject: "Importance of Education"

MENTOR HIGH DEADLINE: March 26, 2018

East Central Ohio Pilots Association2018-03-26

They will award scholarships for flight training to young adults who display the aptitude, talent, drive and desire to learn to fly.



Criteria:



1. Must have a demonstrated keen interest inflying and general aviation

2. Must be a proven self-started, willing to earn their way

3. Participation and demonstrated contributions to community and school

4. Reasonable academic skills

5. Must provide 2 recommendaiton letters

6. Essay of less than 550 words on "How Achieving a Pilot's Certificate will Benefit My Life"

Quota International2018-03-26

Quota International of Lake County will award a $1,000 scholarship to a Lake County college bound student.



CRITERIA:



1. Plan to study speech, hearing, visually impaired, social work, counseling, physical therapy, or elementary or secondary education.

2. It is the intent that the recipient work within Lake County for at least one year after graduation.

3. At least 2.5 gpa

4. Letter of recommendation

5. Essay expressing reason student is pursuing such a degree and future career plans.

MENTOR HIGH DEADLINE: 3/26/18

Riley Pearson Cancer Survivor2018-03-26

The family of Riley Pearson will make awards to ALL graduating seniors from MHS who have been treated for cancer as per the criteria below. Riley was a MHS senior when she passed away from cancer in 2014. Applicants do not have to be enrolling in a college/university or technical school after graduation.



Criteria:

1. Must be a senior at MHS and attended MHS at least junior and senior year.

2. Applicant must have been treated by an oncologist and received intravenous chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy as part of their treatment.

3. Any and all applicants who are cancer survivors meeting the above criteria will receive the award. There is no one-student selection process.

4. Applicants do NOT have to be enrolling in a college/university or technical school upon graduation to receive the award.

Riley Pearson "OU, Oh Yeah"2018-03-26

This scholarship has been established in memory of Riley Pearson, a MHS senior who passed away in Oct. 2014 after a long fight with cancer. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating MHS senior who plans to attend Ohio University after graduation.



Criteria:



1. Must be a MHS senior planning to attend Ohio University after graduation. If applicant has applied to OU but has not been accepted by the scholarship deadline, student may still apply. Should that student receive the scholarship, enrollment verification and certificate of enrollment must be received prior to payment of scholarship award.

2. Scholarship will be awarded based on the applicant's essay, grades and activities.

3. Must have teacher recommendation form filled out

4. Transcript

Fields of Learning, a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by the Ferguson family of Kirtland Hills, Ohio, is encouraging Ohio high school students (whether part of a football team or not) to write about their learning experiences related to high school football and to reward as many as possible with financial aid for continuing education. There will be five $1,000 awards.



CRITERIA:



1. ALL high school students - not limited to football players. Fans, band members, cheerleaders, etc, are all invited to enter.

2. 700-1500 word essay. The essay should discuss something you learned related to high school football. This is not limited to experiences of actually being on the high school football team. For example, maybe you learned something as a cheerleader, band member or as a fan who attended games, or from an experience a friend or relative had. Anything you think of that has a connection at all to high school football is acceptable.

3. Essay must be typewritten and be a true story told in your own words.

4. You are encouraged to complete the online registration and submit your essay via email to admin@fieldsoflearning.org. Include your last name and title of your essay in the Subject Line. In the body of the mail, include your full name, mailing address, phone number, high school, current grade and year of graduation.

5. Emailed entries must be received by Fields of Learning by 3/31/18.

Don't Text and Drive 2018-03-31

The law firm of Kisling, Nestico and Redick is sponsoring this scholarship to help raise awareness of the dangers of texting while driving. Students are asked to come up with a plan to persuade young adults to avoid texting while driving. They will award $5,000 to the winner.



Criteria:

1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

2. Must be accepted to an accredited college/university within the U.S.

3. Have a minimum 3.0 gpa

4. Must include a transcript

5. Must include one recommendation letter from teacher or counselor

6. Applicants must develop a plan to encourage young adults to avoid texting while driving. May make videos, submit strategies and be as creative as they'd like to convey their ideas.

Mad City Money Competition2018-04-18

Juniors and Seniors looking for a fun way to win a $1,500 scholarship are invited to compete in the MAD City Money Competition. Your team of 3 will compete in a virtual "Game of Life" taking on the role of adults in futuristic Mad City. You're given jobs, income, a family, and of course, debt. The challenge? Visit merchants to purchase all your needs such as housing, transportation, food, clothing, etc. and build a budget. It will be a fun and eye-opening competition that will give you an idea of what life will be like on your own. Each member of the top 3 teams will win scholarships of $1,500, $1,000 or $500. Competition takes place on Saturday April 21 at Lakeland Community College

NCCAP Freedom Scholarship2018-04-25

The Lake County Branch of the NAACP is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a minority graduating senior from Lake County.





CRITERIA:

1. Must be a U.S. citizen or an international student with an educational visa

2. Must be African American, Asian American, American Indian, Latino, or Pacific Islander.

3. Must have a 2.5 or greater GPA

4. Must include copy of your college acceptance letter

5. Two letters of recommendation

6. Transcript

7. One-page essay explaining what career you wish to pursue, your personal ambition and what you hope to accomplish/achieve in your lifetime.

The family & friends of Keith Jaranovic will award 2 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to MHS students who intend to pursue a career in education. The scholarship award will be made directly to the student's college after verification of enrollment.



Criteria:

1. Must be a MHS senior graduating in 2018 and intending to pursue a career in education at an accredited college/university

2. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of leadership ability, community activity, teacher/principal recommendation.

3. Must include a transcript

4. Letter of recommendation from a teacher/principal who can confirm your abilities regarding your field of study.

5. Letter of recommendation from someone other than a relative who can speak to your character and service qualities.

6. Essay of <250 words stating what you will do as an educator and how you think you will make a difference.

They will award a $1,000 scholarship to a current high school senior in the Greater Cleveland. Applicants do NOT have to be patients at Premier Smiles Orthodontics. They have a very strong belief in community and the roll professionals should play to strengthen and enhance our community. They believe that further education is the great equalizer for youth to fully succeed and reach their full potential.



Criteria:

1. Must be a graduating senior in the greater Cleveland area planning to pursue their education after high school

2. Must submit a 3-page essay describing some of the recent problems within your community and what you would do to solve them.

The Mentor Soccer Club will award various scholarships to graduating seniors who are past or present members of the Mentor Soccer Club.



The maximum amount of the award to any one individual is $1000.

The American's of Italian Heritage will award four scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each for graduating seniors.



CRITERIA:



1. Residents of Lake, Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga counties

2. At least one parent of applicant must be of Italian descent

3. Must plan to attend either a 2 or 4-year college/university as full time student

4. Scholarships will be awarded within three categories: 1) gpa of 2.5 to 2.99, 2) gpa of 3.0 to 3.5, 3) gpa of above 3.5

The Cleveland State University Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity is offering scholarships totaling $2,500 to incoming freshmen men for the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants/recipients have NO obligation to join Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Their goal is to reward men who exemplify the qualities of a sound mind and a sound body as they believe they are the two ideals essential to leading a balanced life. Sigma Phi Epsilon awards similar scholarships at 15 other chapters on Ohio campuses.

AES Engineering will award scholarships in the amount of $500. It is their belief that high grade point averages should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason their scholarship will be awarded on the basis of character as determined by evaluation of the essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study, you are not required to be taking engineering courses to be eligible.
