GE-Reagan Foundation2018-01-04

Honoring the legacy and character of our nation's 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher educations. Each year, roughly 20 Scholars will receive a $10,000 scholarship which is renewable for an additional 3 years.



Criteria:

1. Student must demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship at school, home and community

2. Must be nominated by an eligible community leader (principal, elected official, etc). Check website for specifics on nomination process.)

3. Must be recommended by an authority figure (counselor, teacher, religious leader, etc)

4. Must have minimum 3.0 gpa

5. Must have demonstrated financial need

6. Must be a U.S. citizen.

7. Must be graduating in spring 2018 and planning to enter college in fall 2018. Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, room/board.

Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) Warren Memorial2018-01-19

The OACAC will award a $1,500 scholarship to an outstanding student planning to attend college in OHIO.



CRITERIA:



1. Plan to attend an Ohio college or university

2. At least a 3.0 GPA

3. Personal Statement (500 words)

4. Counselor recommendation

5. Transcript

6. Be able to demonstrate a continued commitment to cultural and intellectual diversity

Ohio University Women's Club (females only) Scholarship2018-01-26

The Ohio University Women's Club of Greater Cleveland will award a scholarship to high school senior WOMAN. The scholarship can range in value from a partial scholarship up to full tuition. This is for the freshman year only.



Criteria:

1. Must be female and entering OU as a freshman in fall of 2018.

2. Upper 20% of class

3. Minimum unweighted gpa of 3.5

4. Minimum 25 ACT and/or 1140 SAT (Critical Reading + Math)

5. Essay (500) words (see application)

6. Must include official transcript in a SEALED envelope

Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce2018-02-02

The Mentor Chamber of Commerce offers 2 different scholarships. One or more scholarships of $1,000 may be awarded for each scholarship.







Dan-Mar Krueger Scholarship: Seniors who intend to pursue their education beyond high school at any college, trade or technical school may apply





Marie Pucak Technical Scholarship: Seniors who intend to pursue their education beyond high school at any trade or technical school may apply

National Co-Op Association2018-02-15

The National Commission for Cooperative Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing high quality, college-level cooperative education, is offering 175 merit co-op scholarships totaling $4.1 million to students who are planning to participate in college cooperative education. Students must apply and be accepted for the 2018-19 academic year at one or more of the eight WACE Partner Colleges and Universities: Clarkson University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Oswego (SUNY), Univ. of Cincinnati, Univ. of Toledo. University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.



CRITERIA:



1. GPA of 3.5 or better

2. Essay describing "why you have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education program".

3. Must apply and be accepted for 2018-19 at one or more of the colleges/universities mentioned above.

4. No transcript or recommendation letters are required and they request none be sent.

5. Applicants must apply and be accepted at one of the partner institutions listed.

6. Student may submit a written application (available in the scholarship drawer located in A114) or student may apply online at: www.waceinc.org





MENTOR HIGH DEADLINE: Feb. 15, 2018





Bowling Green State University Shawn Potter Cancer Scholarship2018-02-15

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Shawn Potter who was a graduate of Mentor High School and Bowling Green State University. Shawn battled cancer as a young adult and he wanted to help other students who have dealt with cancer in their lives.



They will award $1,000 to the selected student for tuition, fees or books.



Criteria:

1. Applicant must be planning to attend Bowling Green State University after graduation from MHS.

2. Applicant must have had a cancer episode in their life (see #6)

3. Must be a B student or better

4. Must provide a short essay: "How has cancer shaped your life and the people around you?"

5. Must provide a statement of confirmation from oncologist

6. If the Potter family does not receive any applications from students who have or have battled cancer, they can award the scholarship to someone whose parents or siblings have.

Ron Stapleton Memorial Scholarship2018-02-23

This scholarship is in memory of Ronald Stapleton. He graduated from MHS in 1969 and University of Cincinnati in 1972. His 1600 meter time stood as a record at MHS until 2016.. He was an All-American cross-country runner at UC. Ron was an outstanding individual, devoted family man and successful businessman. One $950 scholarship will be awarded in his memory to a student who has at least 2 years of varsity cross-country and/or track participation). Applicant will be evaluated on additional criteria as described below.



Criteria:

1. Applicant must have participated in at least 2 years varsity cross-country and/or track at Mentor High School

2. Scholarship is to be used for educational training beyond high school at any college, university, trade or technical school.

3. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: financial need, grades, extracurricular activities, teacher recommendations (2) and autobiography

4. Return completed application to Guidance, room A114, by 2/23/18





MHS DEADLINE: 2/23/18

Dr. Theodore Webster Scholarship2018-02-28

This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Theodore Webster who was a 1987 graduate of Mentor High School. They will award a $500 scholarship to a Mentor High School senior who plans to attend The Ohio State University (main campus or a branch).



Criteria:

1. Must be a Mentor High School senior graduating in May 2018 and planning to attend The Ohio State University (main campus or a branch).

2. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need, character, responsibility and GPA.

3. Attach a transcript.

4. Applications can be found in the Scholarship Drawer located in the Guidance Office, room A114.

5. Return completed applications to the Guidance Office.



DEADLINE: 2/28/18

MHS Class of 1976 Scholarship2018-03-01

The MHS Class of 1976 will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Mentor High School to be used for educational purposes beyond high school at any accredited college, university or trade school.



Criteria:

1. Must be a current MHS senior planning to pursue their education beyond high school.

2. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

3. Two recommendation letters (one from a MHS faculty and one from a non-family member)

4. Five paragraph essay - see application for details

5. List of activities

6. Unless excused in writing by the scholarship committee chairman, the recipient of the scholarship must attend the MHS Senior Awards Ceremony to be held on May 15, 2018 at the Croatian Lodge in Eastlake.

Kathleen Durchik Nursing Scholarship2018-03-09

The family and friends of Kathleen Durchik have established this scholarship in the amount of $1,500 in her memory. Kathleen graduated from Mentor High School in 1973. She went on to graduate from Lakeland Community College and Cleveland State University. During her nursing career she worked at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, University Hospital and the Lake and Geauga County Health Departments. Mrs. Durchik passed away in 2016.



Criteria:

1. Applicant must be graduating from Mentor High School in 2018.

2. Applicant must be planning on pursuing a career in nursing.

3. Scholarship is based on attendance, academics, community service.

4. Must submit one recommendation letter from a teacher, coach, school counselor or any school employee.

5. Must submit a 250-word (or less) essay on the topic, "Why do you want to enter the field of nursing".

6. Applicant does not have to be currently enrolled in a career tech nursing program at Lakeland.

Slater & Zurz LLP Scholarship2018-03-18

The law form of Slater & Zurz in Akron, Ohio, will award a $1,000 scholarship to an Ohio high school senior graduating in 2018 and who will be attending a college/university in Ohio. Scholarship is not tied directly to student's GPA, ACT scores or class rank. It will be awarded on the basis of the preparation of a brief YouTube video along with an accompanying written essay.



Criteria:

1. Must be an Ohio high school senior graduating in 2018

2. Must be planning to attend a college/university in Ohio

3. Student must create a 2-4 minute YouTube video. There are two options for the topic of the video. (see website for specifics)

4. Student must submit a 500-1000 word essay about the topic discussed in the video.

B. Davis2018-05-22

This scholarship is offered through the generosity of the sponsors of the Student Award Search Aid website sponsors. It is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as students currently registered in any post-secondary institution. Criteria:

1. You must submit your entry via email to: awards@studentawardsearch.com

2. Must write an essay of 1000 or less on the topic: Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.

3. Be sure to include your name, high school name, what college you will be attending and what your future academic plans are in the email.

Cleveland State Balanced Man (SigEp Fraternity)2018-08-15

The Cleveland State University Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity is offering scholarships totaling $2,500 to incoming freshmen men for the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicants/recipients have NO obligation to join Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Their goal is to reward men who exemplify the qualities of a sound mind and a sound body as they believe they are the two ideals essential to leading a balanced life. Sigma Phi Epsilon awards similar scholarships at 15 other chapters on Ohio campuses.



Criteria:

1. Must be male

2. Must be planning to enroll in Cleveland State University for the 2018-2019 academic year.

3. Must have a minimum 3.0 gpa

4. Must not be affiliated with any other fraternity.
