| Just wanted to say hello to everyone out there in Mentor! I am from the class of 99' and was very sad to hear the news about Ms. Welshans and about the large amount of debt the school system is currently in. However, I love this site and I think it is a great way to keep in touch with everyone! Any prospective teachers out there? I am a recent BG graduate with a 3rd grade teaching job. Anyone intereste in education, feel free to email me w/questions about college or job hunting. | ||

| It is universally agreed that Mr. Vondran is special. Dr. Hoynes has stated many times that she is deeply saddened by the disruption to the lives of her employees and their families that the coming cuts will cause. In these tough economic times, there will not be enough money to keep all of the fine teachers, administrators and support staff(secretaries, bus drivers, custodians) that we would like to keep. Precisely which teachers return next year depend on many factors: retirements, negotiations with the teachers' unions and the March levy. Some teachers may move away, start families or return to graduate school. But clearly not all jobs will be saved. Our mission is to serve students. Dr. Hoynes and Mr. Spiccia are making every effort to find ways to continue as many of our current programs as possible with a smaller staff. Thank you for your comment. It is warmly appreciated. | ||

| Laying off certain teachers after everything they've done is just wrong....everyone knows MR. VONDRAN is the best thing to ever happen to the music program and laying him off after he's worked himself near death, taking both the concert and marching band to states to recieve top honors, is a travesty. | ||

| It is unfortunate that people will be losing jobs. Teachers, administrators, busdrivers, secretaries etc. But the school district cannot spend more than it takes in. Dr. Hoynes, Mr. Spiccia, the unions are working very hard to find ways to save as many jobs as possible and to preserve the educational and extracurricular excellence that we have. | ||

| I'm pretty upset to hear some of the teachers that are gettin laid off.... I know of a certain teacher that has worked his butt off and gotten 141 one students the one at states...along with the help of another teacher that is...He ha helped a lot of people musically...(including me).... he is a great teacher and doesnt deserve this..... this man is still pushing the bands to be good despite his job being up in the air.. he's not showin the least bit of sign of giving up...he pushes the bands twice as hard everyday... this guy is a great guy.. im gonna miss him. | ||

| I have just been inmformed of Justin's passing. He was a sweet person who always had good intentions and never had a bad word to say about anybody. He came to school everyday and greeted everyone with a smile and a hello. Even if you didn't know who he was he still left you with a smile on your face. P.S. Great success Mentor High! | ||

| Greetings Mentor High from the class of '94. Anyone planning our 10th reunion? I don't want to get stuck with a 10/11th thing like '92 did. Sorry to hear about the big debt the school district is in. I'm sure a couple hundred dollars of that $16M was spent driving me to Cleveland State and renting the pool, and now the class of 2004 has to pay. If I lived 1 voting district closer I could at least give my Yes to all the school levies that will need to pass in the next 2 to 20 years. | ||

| I think that right now we shouldnt be pre-occupied with sports and all that other stuff.I think that the person that updates this site should put some kind of rememberance of Justin Wertsch. He was such an unbelievable person.Right now we should just remember Justin.I think it would mean alot to his family too to dedicate something to him.I went to the wake, the funeral, and the burial and I think people are understimating how much Justin meant to everyone.I met his family and they raised a great kid and I think that if you in some way show some respect towards him by mentioning him somewhere on this page it would help his family alot more.It would show them how much everyone at Mentor appricated him and how his memory will live on in all of our hearts and minds.I just think it'd be a real nice gesture. Then again its only a suggestion. | ||

| Just think what it would mean for them to hear from you, and the rest of the Fabs. I remember the thrill of hearing the team sing "We Are The Cardinals" after the Cleve. Hts. game. They had to come from behind at the half, and they really kicked ass. Kindler, Stone, Bukky, Howard Horn, Toivie, Hathaway, Sparky----it was cold and rainy, but it was wonderful. I grabbed their # 34, and pointed to you, saying "that's our # 34 kid--19 TDS our Senior year". Sure would like to be there. | ||
