Biology Projects
First nine weeks:
Famous Biologist
In this each student will be working on their own researching and presenting information about a famous person in the field of biology. Students will choose from a list of possible subjects, conduct research on the individual, and then give a brief presentation to the class. Students must select 4 of the following to hand in and present:
1) Timeline of the persons life. (must also include 2 historical events in the world during their lifetime)
2) Make a colored advertisement of the person and their accomplishment.
3) Write a newspaper article about the person.
4) Create a birth certificate.
5) Write an obituary.
6) Write out a script for a radio commercial for the person.
** All projects must have a cover with a picture!!
Second nine weeks
Create a children's book
This assignment has the students taking the complicated concepts of photosynthesis and respiration and writing them in a format that could be understood be a 4th grade student.
Requirements:
1) Must express the 4 events of the light reaction.
2) Must express the 3 events of the dark reaction.
3) Must have a minimum of 5 pages.
4) Must have a minimum of 3 pictures.
Farm project
This assignment the students will be working with a partner to develop a farm in their community and run it to make a profit. They will express the ecological impact of the farm and the chemicals they choose to use.
Requirements:
Third nine weeks
Genetic Engineering
This nine weeks the students will be researching and writing a paper on their opinions on the topic of genetic engineering and cloning.
Requirements:
1) 2 to 3 pages in length expressing their opinion.
2) A minimum of 5 citations from at least 3 different sources..
3) A works cited page with citations in proper Lester form.
Forth nine weeks
Travel brochure
In this assignment the students will create a travel brochure of their favorite food through the digestive system.
Requirements:
1) Must list all 12 organs in the digestive system AND give the function of each.
2) Must have a label full body diagram of the digestive system
3) Must have 2 additional pictures that relate to digestion.
*** All pages Must have something on it (no blank sides)
