Bloodmobile: Spring 2008
OVERVIEWStudent Government hosts the American Red Cross Bloodmobile twice a year. We'll be hosting a spring bloodmobile in the Fine Arts Center on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008. The theme is '80s - Feel The Vibe. Sign-ups to donate start February 25th in the Student Center. Bloodmobile has been rescheduled for Monday, March 31st (the day we return from Spring Break).
HOW TO SIGNUP
Student Government has a table in the lunch room during lunch mods. Sign ups begin Friday, February 25th and end Monday, March 3rd. If you don't have a lunch, you can sign up in F-1 or F-2. You must bring your photo ID (license) to register. Sign-ups have ended. Only students who pre-registered may attend.
Donor Requirements
To donate, you must meet these requirements:
- At least 17 years old
- Weight at least 110 pounds
- Be in generally good health
- Must bring photo ID to the event
- We recommend that you eat breakfast or a snack and drink water the morning of your donation
Blood Donation Facts
Here are some fun facts about donating...
- The actual donation lasts about 6 minutes.
- You'll probably spend a total of 30 minutes in the Fine Arts Center before returning to class.
- After donating, you are encouraged to take a break in the canteen, where we have donuts, cookies, juice, water, etc.
- Donors are screened before giving blood to be sure they are in good condition to donate. If you do not meet all requirements, you will be sent back to class.
- In northern Ohio, over 900 health volunteers are needed each day to meet patients' needs in 57 local hospitals throughout 19 counties.
- Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood.
- An adult body contains 10 to 12 pints of blood; a donation is about 1 pint.
- You can donate as often as every 56 days.
